The Story Behind KindleWorks
Sawdust Shouldn't Go to Waste.
At 20 years old, I was working construction with my dad every summer. Every day I watched truckloads of perfectly good sawdust hauled off to the landfill. It seemed wrong — all that material, all that energy, just wasted.
That same summer, I kept struggling to start campfires and get the fireplace going at home. The connection hit me on a Tuesday afternoon: this sawdust could become the kindling everyone needs.
KindleWorks started in a garage with a bag of reclaimed sawdust and a block of natural wax. Today we're still making every fire starter by hand — because shortcuts aren't something we believe in.
